Wealthy Affiliate Keyword Tool – Knowing The Basics

Knowing The Basics To Using The Wealthy Affiliate Keyword Tool

Wealthy Affiliate Keyword ToolOne of the most greatest benefits as being a member of Wealthy Affiliate is that you are equipped to use the Wealthy Affiliate Keyword Tool.

In order to start writing Quality Content for which Google will be made proud of, you must begin with the basics. By which I mean you need to conduct Keyword Research firsthand upon proceeding to write any form of Content in your Website Pages/Posts.

Do you want your Website to be noticed on Search Engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo or even Ask.com? Well the answer is simple, Keyword Research is the way to go for sure.

Step #1: Go to www.wealthyaffiliate.com

As you Login, you will see Wealthy Affiliate Home Activity Dashboard right away.

Look towards your Left-Hand Side.

Wealthy Affiliate Home Activity Dashboard

You will most likely see Tools and the 2nd Feature Down is Keyword Tool.

Click on Keyword Tool.

Step #2: This is the Following Screen you should see next.

WA Keyword Research

Now then, lets do some Keyword Search Examples.

Step #3: For my 1st Example for the Keyword Research, I want to plan on writing a Blog Post based off the Keywords “Free Affiliate Programs.” No need to put quotations here.

Keyword Research Free Affiliate Programs

I simply typed in the words: free affiliate programs.

I would then Click on Search for Keywords on the Right.

Step #4: You would then see a huge list of Keywords you may choose from in order to Write a New Blog Post targeting those same exact Keywords from the Examples that dropped down.

Keyword Research free affiliate programs Keywords Examples Drop Down

Key Components To Consider:

  • 1) Keyword – Ask yourself if it makes sense grammatically speaking.
  • 2) Searches – Are they over 100?
  • 3) Traffic – Is the number higher than 20 in that Column?  This number is the amount of  likely Visitors you can expect if your Blog Post appears on the 1st Page of Search Engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, or Ask.com
  • 4) View Result – Is the Competition opening up into a New Window yielding about 100 Results or lower? At best try to aim for Less Than 50 Results. The Lesser the Competition, the Better. That way you can write Content targeting the Keyword in Quality Written Material in the hopes that someday it would be there on the 1st Page of Google Search Results.

Example #1

Let’s take a glance at what our data shows with Keyword: free affiliate programs.

Free Affiliate Programs Keyword Research Results

1) Keyword: free affiliate programs makes Grammatical Sense. Check.

2) Searches: Over 100. Searches indicate 532 Average Monthly Searches. Check.

3) Traffic: over 20. Traffic is 91 here. Check.

4) View Result: Under 300. It shows about 255 Results here. Check.

Please Note in Blue

This Keyword free affiliate programs is highly competitive meaning that the number 255 Results indicate that that is how many websites that were made targeting those same exact Keyword free affiliate programs.

Often, I would settle for the results being less than < 100 so that means it is far less competitive in terms of how many  websites that were made targeting those same exact Keyword free affiliate programs.

Example #2

Let’s take a glance at what our data shows with Keyword: free affiliate program.

I would not use this Keyword free affiliate program at all since the View Result is more  than 300. If it less than 300, it would indicate that it would be less competitive, but great rule of thumb I usually tend to follow is the Results be less than < 100.

Well you surely answered my questions about WA KW tool. I had also been wondering if I should just use that tool or jaaxy. You suggest using both and Givin the comparison I see what you mean. One question, does the seo suggest the quality of the keyword to search in algorithms? Thanks for the post and I look forward to more information.

      Dear Dee,

Thank you so much for your Feedback. 🙂 I really appreciate it. 🙂

To help answer your question, this is how I would explain it:

The QSR/Competition score will indicate whether or not a keyword is good for SEO.

You want your keyword to meet the following criteria:

      (1) Must be lower than 200 QSR initially, as you get more authority in search engines you can tackle more competitive search terms.
      (2) Must get some traffic, I ideally aim for over 50 searches per month
      (3) Must make grammatical sense

Once you have your keyword, you are going to create a page or a post on your website targeting that keyword. It should be within the following places in your content:

      (1) Somewhere in the page/post title
      (2) Somewhere within the first paragraph

And then write your content naturally and make sure it is engaging. People search “keywords” when they are looking for something so as you start getting ranked under these keywords, you are going to start to see traffic.

Once you have traffic…you have a ton of opportunity to generate revenue.

I really hope that this has helped answer your question Dee. 🙂

I really enjoyed reading this very well written guide to the Wealthy Affiliate keyword tool.

I find myself using this tool on a daily basis. I don’t know how I ever did without it. I would say it is better than a lot of paid tools (or just as good, at least). I like the “Dig” feature – when you find a keyword you want to look into more you just click dig and it does the search for you!

Everything about WA is awesome, the keyword tool included.

You have written a very thorough article o keyword research here, with lots of great images to show what you are doing. Many people wouldn’t bother going into quite that much detail, but here you have provided everything. This means that someone coming to this site will not need to go anywhere else to get more information about the topic.

It’s a really useful topic for anyone who is interested in showing up in Google for certain search terms. Good keyword research is the foundation of any successful internet marketing campaign. If you don’t do any keyword research, you don’t know whether your website is going to show up in Google. And the truth is, there are so many great keywords out there. They just need to be found.

Very true Marcus, I could not have said that better myself. Keyword Research is the most essential building block foundation to allow a Blog Post to position it well to get better rankings in order to appear in Search Engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, or even Ask.com

There are loads of great keywords out there to choose from, but mostly it is best to stick with those that have low competition which in turn gives you a higher chance of getting ranked better because you do not need to deal with too many websites who are ranking for that particular set of keywords you are trying to rank for. 🙂

I have been using WA KW Tool for quite some time now as that is included with me being a Premium Member of WA. It is like an added bonus for the price you pay. 🙂 However, I would say that the WA KW Tool is just as effective as Jaaxy Pro. The data and numbers do read about the same. Jaaxy is more colorful and has additional features to it. 🙂 But, overall, they do highlight the main things you would need to look at in terms of Keywords and how much Traffic you can generate if your Keyword is targeted well enough to appear on the 1st Page of Google Search Results. 🙂

Hope that this helped answer your question. 🙂

I did find some of your explanations a bit repetitive though – the repeat of the ‘Personally’ part was a little annoying. But overall, you have helped give me a better understanding of how the WA KW Tool works.

I applaud your efforts , you make it so clear for newcomers.

And the WA tool is very accurate , it only lacks a little speed compared to Jaaxy. But is a component I enjoy and use.

Are you using low competition keywords mostly?…Are you targeting higher competition from time to time?

Yes, WA KW Tool may not be as colorful and fast as Jaaxy, but it I use it everyday at Wealthy Affiliate. It is great and delivers around the same number results as what you would see in Jaaxy also.

You got that right, I am using low competition Keywords for all of my Blog Posts. I am not a competitive by nature and prefer the lesser the competition, the greater the chances to succeed higher in the Google Search Result Rankings. 🙂

Hi, what a thorough review of my favorite Keyword Tool at Wealthy affiliate. This is something i use every day and I would not be able to write it so good as you did.

But I have some comments. You aim at traffic over 20, not too bad but I think I would go even for lower. That is what I do. The reason is that this is just the beginning. You are ranked by many (key)words, so the traffic will add up.

On the other hand, you speak about competition below 300. Thus is 30 Google pages potentially in front of you. This looks too much for me. I do not look at such keywords. But I know that at Wealthy Affiliate they teach us to aim at such numbers, so what you are suggesting is in line with the teaching.

And I agree with you KT serves the purpose nicely. Thank you.

Thanks so much for your Feedback. 🙂 I greatly appreciate it. 🙂 Wow, I use WA KW Tool every day as well. 🙂 Without it I would not be able to know how best to target the Keywords I want within my Blog Post Articles either. :/

I am not sure what you mean by You aim at traffic over 20, not too bad but I think I would go even for lower. You would want to have aimed at getting Traffic less than 20? Hmm, okay, I believe I see your point. 🙂

I suppose in essence you can say that you could potentially be ranked for almost every word within your overall Content itself. 🙂

Yes, they do say less than 300 for Competition is good. But, again like you mentioned, that is way too much competition for me to handle. I would really aim for Competition to be under 100 at the very least.

Welcome, no problem. 🙂 I am so glad to hear that you enjoy using WA KW Tool as much as I do, Jovo. 🙂

Once again another great and rewarding post from you Angel. I never realised the keyword tool on WA but it seems like a solid alternative to Jaaxy once youve used up your 30 free searches. You explained everything great and this will probably be my go to keyword searcher once im finished with Jaaxy

      Dear Daniel,

Thank you for your compliments. 🙂 Yes, that is very true. The WA KW Tool is an alternative I often run to in case I ran out of using the 30 Free Researches associated with the Jaaxy Program.

I am always happy to assist you with Keyword Research. 🙂

Please feel free to drop by anytime you need further assistance. 🙂

Hallo Angel,Thank you for a well explained article on keyword searches.Am new on this subject and not very tech savvy, and am still in the early stages of my training.I got initiated to keywords searches barely 3 weeks ago; therefore I may not be the best placed position to offer concrete comparison between WA KW TOOL AND JAAXY, or any other at the moment. But I must say your information on Keywords was enlightening and simply put, therefore easy to follow the steps you outlined even to a beginner like me.Am still learning how to become competent on Keyword searches and your article really helped. I hope to call on you for more sharing.
    Thank you for sharing.

Hello Phoenix! Another great article I see! I must admit, I don’t use the WA keyword tool very often, but after reading your guide and it’s potential, I might have to start. I normally just use Jaaxy, but the Keyword Tool does offer added research. It’s simple to use and it might add more time to projects, but in the long run it will pay off.

      Dear JohnCWS,

Thanks so much for your Feedback. 😀 Yes, when I had used up my 30 Free Searches from Jaaxy, I turned to WA KW Tool as my alternative so I can still do some Keyword Research in order to write Posts like this one among many others. 🙂 Yes, hard work always tends to pay off in the long run, it is very true, just need to be patient is all. 🙂

Very in depth review of the keyword tool found in Wealthy Affiliate.

I have it used often before stepping up and subscribing into Jaaxy.

One thing I would say it doesn’t matter if there are only 10 competitive websites on your keyword if they are all authority websites with loads of backlinks it will take a mammoth task to rank for them.

This is where Jaaxy helps as I dig into the first page results websites to check their strength.

However for someone starting out on WA the built in tool gives acurate results you just need to go to Google and do a bit more research too.

Thank you so much for your Feedback. 🙂 Yes, I see your point in how Jaaxy tends to be better than the WA KW Tool. 🙂 I like using WA KW Tool for the time being, it is a bit of challenge to do a bit more research, but it is a challenge I am willing to accept. 🙂

Hello Angel, I have tried the free jaaxy and well I do think that it may be over-hyped. I have been using the wealthy affiliate key word tool.
It is purely an economic decision since the results churned our are all or almost the same, it just think it is no harm relying on WA KW tool.
Maybe when I complete my certification at WA, I may try it our on a full time basis.

      Dear Emmanuel,

Yes, you are quite right in saying that WA KW Tool and Jaaxy give out almost close to the same results. I have been using WA KW Tool after I used up my 30 Free Jaaxy Searches. Jaaxy just has some added features to it like Site Rank and how your Blog Post Article that is targeting a particular set of Keywords is doing in Search Engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo. WA KW Tool has become more simplified.

    Wow, very explanatory article.

I have battled with keyword research for years and often put it off. Since joining WA the whole process has become somewhat simpler, and your article has simplified it even more in my brain.

My number one problem now is to find long tail keywords that have more than 100 searches per month in my niche.

    Thank you for that.

    Hi Angel,
This article helped me a lot to understand the essentials of a keyword search and how to use the tools. I know why keywords are important, but somehow I miss the point when it comes to interpreting the results in the WA keyword tool.
Reading this helped me to finally grasp the meaning of the “Traffic” metric.

Thanks so much for your Feedback. 🙂 Yes, I struggled with Keyword Research a great deal too. But, thanks to the Training I received in WA, I would say I have gained a much better understanding on that subject matter overall in general now. 🙂

I am so glad that my Blog Post Article helped you grasp the Concept of what “Traffic” is and what the number represents. 🙂

    Hi Angel,

I really appreciate this article. I struggled to understand keyword research when I first started and made several mistakes.

The first most important thing is to come up with long tail keywords as you have clearly shown in your examples. The more descriptive your keywords, the lesser competition there would be. Besides, it also helps your page ranking for semantic keywords, which is what we want as webmasters.

I have since moved to using Jaaxy Pro because I like the benefit of using SiteRank to monitor my page ranking and to see if my keyword research effort really pays of or not.

      Dear Cathy,

Thank you for your Feedback. 🙂 I am glad to hear you mention that you really liked my Article. 🙂 I like you struggled a great deal with Keyword Research as I didn’t understand how best to read the data and numbers in the Columns right. But, lo and behold I persevered nonetheless and can say I am becoming more and more like a Keyword Research Specialist in the making. 😀

Yes, I totally agree with you on your perspectives that Long Tail Keywords are better since they are more specific oriented versus those that sound too basic. And, I try my best to be as specific as possible with each and every one of the Blog Posts I have thus written on my Website now. Semantic Keywords, hmm, I see. Thanks for letting me know this Cathy. 🙂

    Hi Angel,

Thanks for your very clear and concise explanation and examples of how the wealthy affiliate keyword tool works. I do have a couple questions so perhaps you can let me know the answers.

    1) I understand the traffic column represents the expected number of site visitors based on the keyword. Does the traffic number take in to account where the site ranks on google search results?

    2) I like that your screen shots have colorful annotations. Do you have a specific tool you ecommend for editing screen captures?

    Thanks – Gregory

      Dear Gregory,

Thank you for your Feedback. 🙂 Welcome. ^_^ No problem, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed my Blog Post with regards to how simple and easy it is to use the WA KW Tool while first starting out trying to build a business online in the hopes of turning it into a thriving investment for years to come. 🙂

I shall try my best to answer your questions now.

      1) Yes, sure, the Best Traffic comes from the First 5,6 spots on the 1st page of Google. Then the rest 5,6 spots of the 1st page. Some Keywords give Traffic even if your page is ranked on the 2nd page of Google. Depending on a Keyword one single page ranked in Top 10 in Google can send you up to 500 visits a day or even more.

      2) I often find myself using the Paint Program on my Windows PC. 🙂 Hope that helps. 🙂 I prefer the Windows 7 Paint Program version best. Simple to use, everything is easily laid out for me to tweak around my Screen Captures with to get my point across when I paste them in my Blog Posts on my Website. 🙂

I used the WA keyword tool when I first started my WA adventure. – I have since moved to JAAXY. However for someone who is building the business on a budget the WA version is a good, if not better than any.
You have used your graphics and examples really well.

Hi, this is a good and thorough presentation of Keyword Tool at Wealthy Affiliate. This is a tool I am using on daily basis, in fact my only tool. You make a comparison to Jaaxy which has more features of course, but those essential for keywords are practically the same. I notice you write that KT has 7 days free trial. It was long a go when I started using it, but as far as I remember KT was not available for starter member (for free), this was only for premium members, but I might be wrong, better check.
