I’ve been banging my head against the wall trying to find a good social plugin for my blog. LOL.

AccessPress seems like a cool plugin that offers a variety of great options.

However, I don’t like the fact that the counters are reset when there are updates. Is the plugin developer working on a fix for this problem, do you know?

I will give AccessPress a try any way 🙂

I can understand your frustration on that my friend, finding a good social media share plugin is hard when there are many out there. However, not all of them are updated frequently and that can lead to some problems.

AccessPress Social Share Plugin is updated frequently but the unfortunate part of it is that the counters are reset when the updates do happen. 🙁

I do not know if the plugin developer is working on a fix for the problem as of late. 🙁

I hope that you do enjoy using AccessPress Social Share plugin though nonetheless. ^_^

It’s difficult to find a good plugin that doesn’t eat up your page load times, and at the same time has a lot of good features. There are a lot of old share button plugins that are still floating around and haven’t been updated in a while and will definitely cause problems with other plugins on your site. I’m currently using Social Media Feather, due to lack of a better one, but I think I’m about to make an upgrade after reading this!

      Dear Dan,

Thank you so much for your Feedback, I really appreciate it. 🙂 You are right, there are loads of various Plugins that are floating about in WordPress which have not been updated in ages.

It is best recommended to go for the Plugins that are updated frequently so as not to run into any conflict with your Websites other plugins.

I hope that you like using AccessPress Social Share Plugin as much as I do. ^_^

Great work on finding something that is useful and then giving training on it. I would not have found out this information otherwise. Kudos to you Angel! I was doing some research for building my next website and came across your site and this post on social plugins for WordPress. Hi Angel,

Now I bookmarked this page as I am in the market for a social share “thingy” not sure what one.

Premium version, what social networks are available?

Due to the sensitive nature of my niches (personal, and medical) the share via email button is a must. I would really require some sort of anon social sharing. It is due to my niche and the very personal and private nature of them I dont get too much in way of fb twitter g+ sharing, but I seem to be doing ok to good on pinterest (interestingly a social site with no newsfeed thingy!)

Tumblr, may gain me some traction socially also, is Tumblr on this plugin?

also does it reset the number of shares everytime an update is made on the premium version?

I have social share but when the share button is clicked at the bottom of a post, the featured image isn’t used. An image that i have on my homepage is dragged up for every share from my domain. How do i change this so that my set featured image is shared with my post.

    Thank you,

      Dear Thomas Wilkinson,

Thanks for your Feedback, I really appreciate it. 🙂 Great question. 🙂
Unfortunately, that is the same scenario you would run into no matter what when using the AccessPress Social Share Plugin you would use on your Website. The case is the same, the image that always appears with be something from your HomePage, they have been programmed automatically for that odd reason somehow.
However, what I have found out is whenever I go to each Post of interest I want to share with those in Social Media, what I end up doing is taking the actual full URL from the Top Address Bar, copying it and then pasting it on someone’s Facebook Wall or other places, and usually a different Featured Image appears and not the one from my website home page. That is the only fix and solution I can think of.

Yet, a great Plugin alternative you won’t be seeing this issue is through using SumoMe Plugin. 🙂 They have a Social Share Plugin aspect to it in that whenever you share your own Post on your Social Media Networks, the Home Page featured image will not appear but rather an image from that actual post itself.

I went from using AccessPress Social Share Plugin to using SumoMe Plugin because that has many various functions to it that it helped me eliminate additional Plugins that were unnecessary to run on my website. 😀

I hope that this helps answer your question. 🙂

Thanks for writing this detailed article on access press social share. I’ve been searching for a social sharing plug in that won’t slow my load times down and it looks like this could be the one. I need to read up on how their caching process works but it seems like it would speed up load times. One thing I struggle with is whether to add the number of shares to the icon. What do you recommend.

      Dear RJ,

Thank you so much for your Feedback, I greatly appreciate it. 🙂 Welcome, no problem. 🙂 I want to make sure wonderful visitors like you to my Website understand something I mention fully step-by-step 100%. 🙂

Yes, I have had my fair share of trying one Social Media Share Plugin with another, time and time again, but chances are they slowed down my Website, were not updated frequently, and appeared a bit confusing to use. Then, lo and behold I found the one that was meant to be perfect for not only me, but for others as well. That Plugin was AccessPress Social Share. 😀

I like adding the Share Count because I can get a glimpse on how many times my Blog Posts were being shared and in what Social Network. 🙂 I have seen many Websites that show the Share Count Number as well, it presents the info as being that great it got widespread awareness. 🙂 That is my recommendation, hope that makes sense and helps answer your question. 🙂

This seems like one of the best social sharing WordPress plugins for 1 major reason: it doesn’t slow down site speed! Having too many plugins on your website can really take its toll and cause you to lose traffic due to longer load times, so this is a big-time advantage.

It also seems simple to set up and gives a good amount of options for free. I do have one question though: does it have an option for placing the buttons off to the side? This seems to offer options within the content itself, but does it allow you to place buttons in the sidebar or even further off the page?

I’ve used AddThis before, which allowed me to place buttons off to the side of my page. I enjoy this aspect but I’m sure it’s slowing down my site speed! I’m hoping AccessPress might have a similar option so that I can have the best of both worlds.

      Dear Matthew Thomas,

Thank you for your Feedback, I greatly appreciate it. 🙂 Yes, that is 1 of the major reasons why I chose to have AccessPress Social Share Plugin working on my Website, it doesn’t slow down the site speed. 🙂

That is indeed correct, Site Speed is also something that Google considers as a Factor for better user-friendly experience when coming to one’s Website.

As far as having the Option to place the Buttons off to the side, it doesn’t seem like it is available. :/

From my understanding when I go to the 2nd Tab which is Share Options.

Please choose the options where you want to display social share icons.

      The choices are:

      1) Posts.

      2) Pages.

      3) Front Page.

      4) Archives.

      5) Attachment Pages.

      6) Categories.

      7) Other (search results, etc)

However, in terms of having a Floating Social Media Share Plugin, then I would recommend Floating Social Media Icon Plugin. 🙂

If you want a Plugin that would give you more Features and or get more Subscribers, then I recommend Social Media and Share Icons (Ultimate Social Media). 😀

I hope that I have helped answer your question on alternatives you may look into and consider on trying out aside from the one I use on my Website which is AccessPress Social Share Plugin. 🙂

Thanks for sharing this great post and review of AccessPress. I found it very helpful and will switch over to this plug-in today. I also enjoy reading your site and you have lots of great and super-helpful information for bloggers. It’s very much appreciated!

I have a quick question for you. I’m currently using the Shareaholic plug-in and for some reason it creates a lot of errors in Google Webmaster Tools. I wanted to see if you experienced any errors in GWT by using AccessPress? I was hoping to find a new social sharing plug-in that has great features and also eliminates any errors in GWT.

Thanks very much and all the best with your business!

I have been hearing from my previous Commenters that they had problems using Sociable Plugin and or Shareaholic Plugin as well. They tended to show Errors or even slow their Website down greatly.

Sociable Plugin is a bit outdated. It has not been updated in 2 years. That is a huge Red Flag to me.

So far with using AccessPress Social Share, I have not run into any problems of it interfering with my GWTools. 🙂 AccessPress Social Share is great in that it does NOT slow down your Website and is updated frequently so that there should be no problem with it as WordPress Update the Parent Themes also. 🙂

Welcome. 🙂 I hope you love AccessPress Social Share Plugin as much as I do. 🙂

Nice page. I like the breadcrumb tool so that I know where I am at within the site. Menu and it’s associated drop downs looks good and is functional. I always like seeing the date at the top of a page/post. I see the date on yours. Looks good. The step by step instructions with screenshots is very well done. This is actually my preferred method of learning. I’d rather see step by step instructions with screenshots over watching a video any day. Graphics and text are laid out nicely and proportionally. Ads on the right side of the page seem natural and do not interfere with the other right side content (recent posts, navigation, recent comments). Nice to see the social media buttons/images/icons. Looks great. Well done.

I do not like Videos much myself, I prefer pictures since I have a photographic memory that serves me well more over than hearing something being mentioned in a video. 🙂 I have the image perfectly pictured in my mind whenever I see or use Screenshots myself. 🙂

Thanks for your Feedback. 🙂 Yes, I try to be as informative as I can with pictures on my Blog Posts. 🙂 Oh my, I sometimes do the same too, I almost did a few times until I got it right to write this Blog Post on AccessPress Social Share Plugin. 🙂 Yup, you not the only one who wondered about the same thing too. I personally do not like the Floating Social Share Buttons though, sometimes they hide the Content a bit while I read it, and it is a tad bit annoying it follows you each time you Scroll Down to read further Content on a Website Page/Post. This Plugin is Free, Simple to Use, Doesn’t affect Site Speed, and is Updated Often. What more can one ask for this Plugin I wonder. 🙂 Welcome Cymone, anytime. 🙂

      Please drop by again. 🙂

      Dear Cedric,

Thank you for your Feedback. 🙂 Hmm, I didn’t think I would ever hear someone say I changed their mind in terms of choosing an alternative plugin to use. 🙂 I guess that makes you the first to mention it now. 🙂 Yes, I know not many people have heard about AccessPress Social Share Plugin before and when I encountered it and read into all the details about it, I just had to spread the word about it in a Blog. 🙂 Simple to Use, Free, and Won’t Slow your Website are the 3 great aspects of this remarkable Plugin. 🙂 Also, add the fact that it is updated often too so that it adds better functionality to your own website too versus a Plugin that was way past being outdated ages ago. 🙂

Wishing you all the very best with your online success above and beyond the horizon,

    Hi Angel,

I was looking for social media plugin for quite some time now, first I tried Sociabe, but I did not liked it, Now I installed Sumome Share feature yesterday, Now I am yet to see is it slows down my website, but if I face any problem with it, I will try AccessPress Social Share. If you can compare Sumome Share and AccessPress Social Share, that would be a lot of help to me.

      Dear Kunal,

Thanks for the Feedback. 🙂 I have tried a vast array of Social Media Share Plugins as well. Sociable Plugin is a bit outdated and I know it was the one that Kyle mentioned as a Starter Social Media Share Plugin to try out in the WA Tutorials.

I tried Sumome Plugin before and when I checked it with gtmetrix.com in terms of my Website loading speed, I was disappointed to find out it too was slowing down my website greatly. So, I uninstalled it right away. I somehow then stumbled upon AccessPress Social Share Plugin. I read Reviews about it and was amazed, that I just had to try it out for myself to see if it was true. I saw that it was Updated more often than Sumome Plugin and other Social Media Share Plugins as well. Which is a huge major plus because if a Plugin is not up to date in so long, it can cause problems and disrupt the functionality a bit on your website. Another Bonus to using AccessPress Social Media Share Plugin is that it does not affect Site Speed at all. Plus, you can change its Appearance around too. 5 different Theme Styles, add a Share Counter and Display it in any area of your Website, I chose Pages/Posts, Top and Bottom.

      Hope this helps Kunal. 🙂

Please drop by again if you have more questions. 🙂

I will be more than happy to address them further. 🙂

I could not believe how many social button apps are out there. The first couple I used slowed down my site load speed so I had to search for one that didn’t. This sounds like it has everything you need and I will definitely take a look into it. Great review.

      Dear Jerry,

Yes, I could not have agreed with you more on that. It is important to find Social Media Share Buttons that allow your Site Speed to load quickly and more efficiently.

Yup, in my honest opinion I was quite very impressed I found AccessPress Social Share Plugin.

It covers 3 Basic ideals that most would consider in having in a Plugin.

      1) Does not affect Site Speed.

      2) Is both User and Mobile Friendly.

      3) very simple to set up as well as a Plugin that is Updated quite often.

Seems a really good choice considering it is free – most of the awesome social buttons tend to be paid options and that really gets my back up!
I opt for ‘crafty social buttons’ as they are simple and they do not slow your site down in any way. Unfortunately they do not come with counters but they suffice for me at the moment. May well look into this option though!

Thanks for the Feedback Chris. 🙂 I have heard that some other Plugins aside from Crafty Social Buttons can slow down your website. :/ Then again, I can’t speak for it wholeheartedly 100% vonfirming whether that is true or not as each Theme is different and handles Plugins in its own unique sort of way.

Thanks!!! This was a thorough review. I have been searching for social buttons for my website. The ones that looked great had a cost to them. As a beginner looking for free options are difficult. This seems perfect to use and looks professional with lots of customization. Also, looking at other comments this plugin won’t effect site speed. Thanks again for a great review. Definitely, will download this plugin to try out.

      Dear iCurious,

Thank you for your Feedback. Welcome. 🙂 Yes, I have experimented with other social button plugins as well also, some were a bit outdated and some really slowed down my website. 🙁 Yes, it is an absolute must according to Google Standards that your Page loads fast. 🙂

Hope you like AccessPress Social Share Plugin as much as I did. 🙂

This looks like an interesting choice of social button but I couldn’t see if it was free or not? Probably just me overlooking that part!
I currently use the simple and easy Crafty Social Buttons plugin – would you say this option you’ve covered is easier to use and to install?

      Dear Chris,

Thanks for your Feedback. 🙂 Yes, it is a Free Social Media Share Plugin. 🙂 Was Updating the Post a bit because I missed out some Key Aspects on this Great Social Share Plugin. :/

Yes, I would consider that this Option is Easier to Use and Install. Plus, it is

Fully Responsive – Compatible with Mobile Devices. A Huge Plus to indicate it is Mobile-Friendly.User Friendly and Very Interactive User Interface – Anyone could use it, its as Easy as Drag and Drop.

This Plugin WILL NOT Affect Site Speed because it has been provided with Caching Option to Store the Share Count in the Database and Update within certain period kept in the plugin Cache Settings Section.

Another thing that came by me recently while Researching in on Crafty Social Buttons Plugin was that a User sent in a Review saying that Crafty Social Buttons Plugin had Doubled their Page Load Time.

Have you encountered anything like that happening with you too Chris by chance?

I hope my Article helped explain all the questions you had about AccessPress Social Share Plugin. 🙂

Finally – thank you! I need a social media plugin. I have one at the top of the page, but I need something to place into the website itself so it can be more apparent to a visitor to engage within social media. I’m glad you included detailed instructions on how you can do this and I’ll look back at it later. Great job!

I might indeed try this AccessPress social share plugin. I have been experimenting in the past, tried at least 5-6 different social share plugins and they did not work with me themes. Presently I am using Shareholic but I have been reading recently that it slows down the system considerably. Do you have any knowledge about it? If so I would try which you recommend. Many thanks for the text.

      Dear Jovo,

Thanks for your Feedback. 🙂 According to run in with these 2 Articles I read about Shareholic, it appears what you say it being slow to load is true. 🙁

      http://websitetrafficincreaserguy.com/shareaholic-wordpress-plugin-review/

      http://inspiretothrive.com/2014/03/shareaholic-not-for-me/

I have however done a bit of research into other alternative Social Media Share Plugins you may want to consider trying out aside from the one I recommend which is AccessPress Social Share Plugin. 🙂

      Here’s where I found alternatives:

      http://bashooka.com/cms/free-wordpress-social-share-plugins/

Sharify, a simple and fast plugin that lets you add beautiful sharing buttons to your WordPress website!

Since you are looking for a fast loading Social Media Share Plugin, perhaps Mashshare is the one for you. Based on reading the Description of it,

0.0166 secs – Mashshare Social Media Icons SEO Share Buttons v2.1.2 (no Add-Ons)0.0232 secs – Shareaholic | share buttons, analytics, related content v7.5.0.2

      You can try Social Likes.

I wouldn’t recommend trying Cunjo on this List since it hasn’t been Updated in over a year now. 🙁

Social Share Boost looks good on this List.

AddThis Sharing Buttons is another nice one you may want to try.

ShareThis: Share Buttons and Social Analytics doesn’t look promising based on the Reviews I have read when Users gave their opinion of how bad this Plugin was. :/

I certainly would not recommend trying Flare from this list either. First of all, it has not been Updated in over a year and that is bad news enough for me to check elsewhere.

Hupso Share Buttons may be another one to steer away from as well since I read a User commenting saying: My site often stalls during loading because it is waiting for the external resources (images etc.) from static.huspo . If you are going to server resources from your server, make sure they LOAD and that they LOAD QUICKLY. Or provide an option to host resources locally.

I wonder how many visitors have abandoned the site because it gets stuck loading, waiting for external resources for this plugin.

Floating Social Bar Plugin has not been updated in 3 months and to me that seems like a really long time for a Plugin like this to not have been updated. 🙁 If your website is mobile-friendly, don’t use it as a User who commented on this Plugin cautions with a warning.

Simple Share Buttons Adder on this List has not been updated in at least a month, I might want to steer away from that one too. Based on recent comments by users, it has its own run in with some problems as well.

One Commenter on June 15, 2015 said: I just see the tabs, nothing else. I can’t edit/do anything with this plugin. What might cause the problem? A lot of people have good comments about this plugin yet it doesn’t work for me.

Another Commenter on June 25, 2015 said: This is garbage that once you add an icon you cannot remove it. Stupid.

UnPointZero Social Share has not been updated in 8 months. So, again I would try to avoid that one as well.

So, based on this List of 15 Free WordPress Social Media Share Plugins to choose from, I think your best alternatives to try out would be: Sharify, Social Likes, Social Share Boost, and AddThis Sharing Buttons.

As Sarah mentioned earlier, you may even want to try out Crafty Social Buttons as well. 🙂

Not on this List is Viral Social Sharing by Upshare. 100/100 Google PageSpeed Score.

I hope this helps Jovo. 🙂

Access press definitely looks good and simple to use. Social bars can be a real headache if they do not function correctly and also have you noticed anything in your google analytics, sometimes these share bars seem to bring in unwanted spam analytics that mess up true analytics readings until you block them out such as traffic from a souse like “free share buttons.” Does this one give you any weird readings in analytics?

I was not aware of this plug in until I read your post. Access Social Press certainly give a comprehensive set of configuration options. Your step by step explanation of how to configure the plugin is very thorough and covers all the settings well.

I particularly like the fact that your first step is a caution about avoiding resetting your share count. So often the ‘potholes’ associated with using a piece of software are not discovered until too late.

Often referred to as the ‘Ah S*&^ moment’ – the nano second between pressing the Enter button and the brain realizing what has happened. By then it is usually too late.

Keep up the good work describing things.

So I still don’t get why you consider this the best social media plugin. Yes, it looks excellent, clean and easy to use. But many other options for social media plugins out there work excellent too. I use Crafty Social Plugin because it matches more of my theme and I haven’t had any trouble with its functionality. Is there something in particular that is important with these sorts of plugins?

      Dear Sarah,

Thanks for your Feedback. 🙂 I agree with your Statement that there are many other Social Media Share Plugins out there to use. 🙂 I personally thought this was the Best One I have used thus far in my search for Social Media Share Plugins, I have used other ones before, but couldn’t configure them well enough and encountered problems with them like Doubling my Page Load Times. Plus, I am usually one to carefully choose Plugins that have been recently Updated and not too far behind in their Updates since I was advised that if it was not Updated in a really long time, it might prove to be incompatible to use with my Theme or WordPress Version.

Hmm, I have never heard of Crafty Social Plugin before, perhaps I shall give it a try sometime and write my thoughts on it. 🙂 In terms of what is particularly important with this Plugin is that I would say

Latest use of APIs to fetch dataMajor 6 social media included (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Digg).Fully Responsive – compatible with mobile devices.User friendly and very interactive user interface – Anyone can use it, its as easy as drag and drop.Support – Dedicated email, forum support. Free updates – Get free updates for lifetime.

I hope this helped answer your questions Sarah. 🙂

This is an awesome article. Came across it while doing research for social media plugins for wordpress. I been looking for a good, but simple plugin that would allow my users to share it on multi platforms. The one I was currently using was pretty bland. I love the fact that you went in depth and showed exactly how to use and set it up. I might have to give AccessPress a try!

      Dear JohnCWS,

Thank you so much for your Feedback. 🙂 I am glad that you found my Article to be of great help to you in that I went very in depth and specific to knowing how to set this Plugin up. 🙂 I too like yourself ran into some problems using other Plugins since they like you said were a bit too plain or too bland. Plus, it was a bit complicated to set up in my opinion. Also, some of them were not updated in so long that I wanted to give up. But, lo and behold, I ran into AccessPress Social Share Plugin and couldn’t be happier. 🙂
