Benefits of Contact Lenses Versus Glasses

When you go to the Eye Doctor for vision, some of the tests they can run will help determine many factors.

For many people, like myself, you would come across the debate of that makes you appear more presentable for an employer.

When going for Contact Lenses, you need to keep your hands perfectly clean at all times when placing them into your eyes. Excess dirt from underneath your finger nails can make its way to your own eyes. This can lead to irritation.

If you were to leave the contacts out of the solution provided to keep them moist and let them sit for a time, they will turn hard and become like glass.

There are contact lenses which have been developed to look like a certain shade of color apart from your own original eye color.

You can’t actually sleep with contact lenses overnight as they need to be soaked in the solution to keep them free from bacteria.

There are people that are born with perfect eyesight which is termed as 20/20 vision meaning they are able to see things from 20 feet away, this implies they are far sighted as opposed to being near sighted.

A solar eclipse is known as when the moon and sun align in the same place, upon wearing contact lenses, you could easily become blind. Just imagine going in an airplane from 1 time zone to the next and refraining from opening the window to check if it is daytime or nighttime while high up in the air.

Wearing glasses makes one appear smarter and more distinguished in appearance like a professional professor.

Wearing contact lenses for some people makes it seem like they have had laser eye surgery done and you can’t notice the difference between if they are wearing contact lenses or have had their vision perfectly achieved back. Another benefit to wearing contact lenses is that its like anti-glare vision when driving long hours against the hot fiery sun’s heat and glare on window. You are able to see the road better also.

There are certain contact lenses which last for 3 months per usage or to about several years, but it all depends on the cleanliness measures taken.

Here is a chart based on the Pros and Cons behind wearing Eyeglasses and Contact Lenses.

Eyeglasses Contact Lenses
The distance between your eye and the lens sometimes creates distortion. Worn right on the eye, for more natural vision.
Poor peripheral (side) vision. Your entire field of view is in focus. This is especially important in sports and in driving, where you need to see as much around you as possible.
Constant awareness of frame and lens edge, as well as reflections off the backside of the lens. With contacts, no annoying obstructions or reflections are in view.
Uncomfortable weight on your face and ears. Periodic need for tightening or other adjustment. No weight and resulting discomfort. No frame constantly slipping down your nose.
Glasses fog up with changes in temperature. Contacts don’t fog up.
Glasses are a distraction during games and sports. No distractions, which makes contact lenses a favorite among athletes.
Fashionable and inexpensive non-prescription sunglasses are not an option if you wear eyeglasses. A whole wardrobe of fashionable, functional, affordable sunglasses is available to contact lens wearers.
Glasses need to complement your outfit. For instance, casual frames may not suit evening attire. Or colors may clash. Contacts match everything you wear.
Eyeglasses are annoying to wear in rain or snow. Contact lenses won’t collect precipitation and blur your vision.
Glasses are an unnatural, distracting barrier between your eyes and the world. Contacts don’t detract from your natural appearance; they let people see your eyes.

Here is a Brochure Pamphlet on Eyeglass Care and different eyeglasses wear modifications you can choose from to fit your needs.

The 2 greatest places I know of to get great eyewear for your eyes are at Wal Mart Vision Center or through America’s Best Contact Lenses and Eye Glasses.

For a person wearing Specs as we call it in India, tell them they look “Spectacular.” No one deserves to be laughed at or frowned upon for wearing glasses or contact lenses to improve their vision abilities.

Contact Lenses just like batteries can expire over time. If you continue wearing expired Contact Lenses, it can cause Red Eye irritation as well as pink eye as well. However, the best approach to keeping good vision is to eat lots of carrots.

    Hi Angel,

This is indeed a good comparison between contacts and glasses. The reason people go in for contacts has a lot to do with how society treats or sees a person with glasses. It is not taboo, but sometimes a person with glasses may be referred to as geeky. Contacts also provide us with the wonderful option of changing our eye color for an occasion.

And human love to experiment and reinvent themselves.

There actually are some types of contact lenses that you sleep in. I’m not sure where to get them, because I’m fine with soaking them overnight, but I do know some people who use ones that they can sleep in. One thing I really like about wearing contacts is that I can comfortable wear sunglasses with my contacts in. There are some glasses that get dark when exposed to sunlight. However these ones take time to get dark and for someone with light sensitivity I need them to be dark as soon as I step in sunlight. Also the problem with these glasses is that they also take a minute to get light again. So when you step into a dark room your glasses will still be dark for a couple minutes. I much prefer wearing sunglasses that I can take off immediately when I come inside and put on immediately when I step outside. I agree 100% that contacts are better and more convenient. I also like that you don’t have to ever worry about them falling off. I switched to contacts when I was only 13, because I liked that idea better. I’m guessing you wear contacts. How old were you when you made that decision to wear them?

I came to find out about contact lenses, but after reading I started to wonder if maybe glasses aren’t so bad. As you say, we should consider glasses “spectacular” and not judge ourselves or others based on our eyewear!

I do find glasses easy to lose, but then again, I can easily take them off at night or for any reason. I think “Spectacular” will be the way to go.

    Thank you!

Well, I wouldn’t say too much about this because I neither use any of the two but I must say that I actually prefer the use of contact lenses as it totally eradicates the misconceptions that people have about people who makes use of glasses. Also, it looks more smarter as it removes the stigma from using glasses. Thanks for sharing here

I have always wondered what the difference with wearing contacts vs. glasses would be. I have been wearing glasses pretty much since age 40!  I nearly tripped down the stairs when my eyes jumped – or should I say my vision.

Hand cleanliness I realize now is quite a key to a lot of things in life but obviously with the eyes it is a key to contacts.  I had no idea what would happen out of the solution so this is good knowledge!

The driving advice with contact lenses is another fact I would not know.  I get glare from my glasses if they are not wiped clean. It seems I spend more time cleaning them than I do wearing them!

The comparison of contacts vs. glasses seems overwhelmingly in favor of contacts.  I have never had contacts but there needs to be more cleaning cadre with contacts and hygiene which would be a change for me.

All in all there is a lot of info. here I did not know. The best part is I didn’t have to read a 5 page medical document and was able to understand it.

    VERY WELL WRITTEN!

Hello there! this is an amazing review you have got here. I am sure this quality information will be beneficial to anyone who come across it. For me, I prefer the contact lenses as contacts cost more than eyeglasses but less than
surgery (although surgery may be less expensive in the long run if it allows you to go without glasses or contacts).

I was thinking there were just a couple of advantages of using contact lens over glasses but I am surprised with this whole array of points. I read them all, one by one and I agree with all of them.

This is a very good post on the benefits if what the contact lenses have to the glasses and I have to say you did a good job to put all this together.

    I enjoyed reading what I found out about contact lenses; I never knew that best practice in keeping good vision is to eat lots of carrots;
However, I still would not take a chance if given, to try contacts over glasses, I wear glasses to read; and here is a vast amount of well-presented information; with attention to detail.

    Thanks again.

What a great deal of information that you have given out in this awesome and interesting article I must give you a big thumbs up… I encountered an article like this on the internet and it changed my knowledge about the Benefits of Contact Lenses Versus Glasses and gave me a new system to approach it…Although contact lenses are becoming more popular day by day, I still use glass. Although contactless is popular, it has some drawbacks which are why I use glass.

    Thanks a lot for sharing.

This is a very good post in the benefits if what the contact lenses have to the glasses and I have to say you did a good job to put all this together. I’m happy about this and I know that it would be really nice for me to pick the contact instead of the glasses now. Thanks to you, I already understand some rule of using the lenses.

Yes, I often played sports back in the day, so if I had a ball or something hit my glasses, they can break, so switched to Contact Lenses and I can see much better in terms of self defense too.

Hello Angel, this is really tactical and one has to be careful about the decision even though it goes down to a personal decision and preference. I really love to see my daughter with her lense because it makes her look finer, but for me, I love to wear my glasses because I can easily take it off anywhere that I am and not really get bothered about it.

      Dear Justin,

Thanks for your Feedback, I really appreciate it.

I really believe Contact Lenses are better since they don’t wear anything at all as opposed to glasses as they seem to slide off my face and easily break in case they fall down. Plus, Contact Lenses allow you to see the person’s eyes better too.

It looks like you’ve misspelled the word “Camoflage” on your website. I thought you would like to know :). Silly mistakes can ruin your site’s credibility. I’ve used a tool called SpellScan.com in the past to keep mistakes off of my website.

Thank you so much for visiting my website and leaving some Feedback on what needed improvement. I didn’t realize at all that I spelled the word camoflage wrong. It should be spelled camouflage instead. Thanks for the heads up. Yes, spell check is important as well, although other people use Grammerly too.

You have really distinguished so well about the contacts and glasses. The point that you have putten up makes things so easier to understand how they both are different in their own way. I too used to way glasses and have now transformed to lenses and It’s my personal experience that I feel contact lenses are much better than glasses.

      Dear Varun Sharma,

Thank you so much for your Feedback, I really appreciate it. I also tried seeing in 3-D glasses as well, but the main thing to remember is if you have the same power in both eyes. For me, the power became less and less during winter season especially during fog/mist. So, I underwent a test exam for vision, for driving especially as I tend to travel more than do actual sports when I was younger. But yes, wearing glasses seemed to not help with the glare from the sun, so I talked to an optometrist and he said lenses might be better because laser is not proven 100% yet to try. Besides lenses don’t really weigh heavily on the face as glasses too which need consistent cleaning. Lenses help you see better in terms of depth perception. Hope that this helped. 🙂
